Biography

Matt Cassano knows what it takes to be a premier athlete: hard work, perseverance, and intelligent strategies. As part of the sports initiative at Socius, he applies those same values to help clients from the professional sports world achieve financial success. A former football and baseball player himself, today he specializes in helping other athletes assess their assets, determine their objectives, and develop personalized plans to manage their wealth effectively.

Born and raised in New England, Matt moved to Fort Lauderdale and entered the financial industry in 2004. Matt returns to the Northeast often to visit Lake Winnipesaukee, Fenway Park, and the Cape and Islands. In his free time, he loves golfing, spending time with friends, and relaxing or traveling with his wife and two daughters.

What is your day-to-day role at Socius?

I play a key role in developing and maintaining our relationships for the firm. Once a prospect becomes a client, I customize a solution for them and focus on making their goal become a reality.

What do you love most about being here at Socius?

It’s all about our people, my coworkers and our clients. We’ve fostered a close culture inside and outside the workplace—we’re a family.

What’s the most gratifying part of your job?

At Socius, we all have different strengths. Bringing them all together for the greater good of our clients—delivering that kind of value—is really satisfying.

What’s the biggest challenge you face in helping clients with their wealth?

In the beginning, the greatest challenge is finding out what makes each client tick and identifying his or her particular needs. Often, clients will have a vague sense of their objectives—but it’s up to us to dig deep so we can build a custom solution tailored to them.

What are your favorite movies and TV shows?

I could go on forever. Hands-down, my favorite movie is Good Will Hunting. For TV, I love 24, The Wire, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Homeland, and Entourage—I even named my dogs Drama and Vinny.
