Overview

William Schmidt was thirteenth employee of Christian & Timbers, now a top 10 International Search firm, in 1991 when the firm had less than $2 MM in revenue and one office. Schmidt’s leadership was a major contributor to growing the firm to over $60 million in revenue by 2001 with 14 offices, including Canada and Europe.

As a senior member of the firm, and holding a permanent position on its “inside” board, Schmidt’s responsibilities always went beyond developing and conducting senior level executive searches across a broad range of markets and functional areas.

To address a major challenge that faced the firm, in 2003 Mr. Schmidt moved from search into a full-time role in Human Assets, responsible for employee development and training, organizational development, staffing, compensation, recognition programs, performance management and new corporate initiatives.

Prior to Christian & Timbers, Schmidt served for six years as an Executive Director with Russell Reynolds Associates – a major international search firm. There he built a highly successful individual practice focused in high technology and manufacturing. Schmidt was responsible for managing client relationships with Fortune 500 companies such as Alcan, Bell & Howell, Polaroid, Square D, TRW and Xerox and smaller, privately-held companies.

Building a strong foundation before his career in search, Schmidt had tenures with Coulter Systems Corporation and Allied Corporation. Importantly, Schmidt also built a two decade flourishing career with Xerox where he served in many critical roles including Vice President-Strategic Business Office and Vice President-Business Manager Supplies.

Mr. Schmidt holds a BSEE from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the University of Rochester.
